URINE -DIVERSION DEHYDRATION TOILET (UDDT) PROJECT

The University received funds from the Finish Government to implement a project to construct Urine Diversion Dried Toilet (UDDT) and research into organic farming techniques in partnership with the Ho Municipal Assembly. Faculty from the Departments of Building Technology and Civil Engineering are in charge of the execution of the project, with Dr. Kenneth Egbadzor of the Department of Agro Enterprise Development, as the Project Leader.  As part of the project, HTU designed and supervised the construction of a number of urine diversion dried toilets for selected communities and households within the Ho Municipality including one for the University as listed below.

  1. 10 seater facility at HTU
  2. 10 seater facility at Freetown Basic School
  3. 10 seater facility for School of Hygiene
  4. Four (4) – two (2) seater facility for four households
  5. 16 seater facility for the Avee Community

 

  • Aim : The overall objective of the project is ‘Empowering public authorities and mobilising the citizens for achievement of total sanitation in Ho Municipal Assembly’. The overall objective is based on the development strategies of Ho Municipal Assembly and UN Sustainable Development Goals
