Ho Technical University with its partners has won a €517,620 fund from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland for the ODF2030 Project on Sustainable Sanitation for Volta Region. The objectives of the project have been aligned with national and regional development strategies and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The project which supports ecological sanitation campaigns would ultimately help to improve hygiene and health, increase food security, provide training for artisans, and reduce poverty through the use of organic fertilizers. This would also improve the state of the environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions via an agroforestry component under the project. The project partners include the Global Dry Toilet Association of Finland, JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Ho Municipal Assembly and VolCare Foundation.
